Margaux's 1st week in Dublin

Margaux , élève en 1re année Brevet des Métiers d'Art du Bijou - option Bijouterie-Joaillerie a bénéficié d'une bourse Erasmus+ d'un montant de 1988 euros pour effectuer un stage de 4 semaines chez Deirdre 0'Donnell à Dublin.

Monday, June 9
I spent my second day in Ireland. I visited Dublin with Mrs Grill and Emy. We saw the statue of Molly Malone, then we walked through the streets. We had a coffee, then we went to St Stephen’s Green Park and the shopping center. We also visited St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin Castle (even though we didn’t enter), and we tasted a cheesecake in a café. Then Emy joined us, we returned to Malahide, I took a walk in the "The Green" park with Emy, then we went back home. We ate, packed our things, and prepared for bed.
Tuesday, June 10
Today, I started my internship. In the morning, Mrs Grill and I accompanied Emy to her work placement, then she took me to mine. Once arrived, I met Claudia, Deirdre, six students as well as an intern from California. I spent the morning and afternoon scraping after casting. I also removed some display cases in order to store the jewelry pieces. At the end of the day, I joined Emy and we returned together.
Wednesday 11 June
The day began following my activities in the workshop. In the afternoon, I had the opportunity to make candles, which was a new experience for me. I first poured the necessary amount of wax into the containers, which I then heated to about 100 °C. I then added the scent and then pour the mixture into the containers. The smell was so pleasant that it perfumed the entire room. Before that, I had to put the stickers and placed the highlights. I continued this activity until the end of the day, before returning with Emy.
Thursday, June 12
Today, I filled a hole on a bracelet by completing it with a silver wire. Before the break, I also cut a rectangle out of wax. As it was raining, I ate inside with the students, which allowed me to discuss with them in English. In the afternoon, I corrected the prices of the jewelry in the store, because some did not match those displayed on the website. At the end of the day, I returned with Emy.
Friday, June 13
This morning, I started the day by cleaning jewelry. A ring in the shape of a slug particularly made me laugh. For my lunch break, I went to eat at St Stephen’s Green Park, where a very insistent seagull was trying to take my meal. Then, I went to get myself a gourmet dessert at AOKBerries.
Back at the shop, I picked up the wax I was preparing for a client: an oval-shaped earring. I then finished the day by filing the sides of a pendant recently back from casting.
At the end of the day, I met my father and my sister, who came to visit me in Ireland. We strolled through the streets, then we had a drink in a pub-restaurant where we also dined. After this good time together, we returned.
Saturday, June 14
This morning, I joined my father and sister in a Starbucks. Then we took the DART to go to Dublin. We visited the outside of Trinity College and took a tour in the shop. For Father’s Day, I booked and paid for the library visit, scheduled at 6:30 PM. At noon, we had lunch at the Café en Seine, it was really delicious. In the afternoon, we went for a walk in Dublin, then we visited the library, which was magnificent. In the evening, we returned to Malahide and had dinner at Sienna’s. The meal was good, but there were many people and it was noisy. After dinner, they returned to their hotel, and I went back home.
Sunday, June 15
Today, my family joined me at Geraldine’s place. We took a moment to discuss all together, then we went to Dublin to have lunch at Max’s place. Then, we had a donut at Rolling Donuts before walking in St Stephen’s Green Park. I saw a swan, seagulls, a pelican and two squirrels. After a coffee break, I accompanied them to the bus that was taking them back to the airport. On my side, I returned to Malahide. With Emy, we booked a visit to the immigration museum, then we ended the day with a pizza by the sea before returning.

Lundi 9 juin
J’ai passé ma deuxième journée en Irlande. J’ai visité Dublin avec Mme Grill et Emy. On a vu la statue de Molly Malone, puis on s’est baladé dans les rues. On a pris un café, puis on est allé au parc St Stephen’s Green et au centre commercial. On a aussi visité la cathédrale St Patrick, le château de Dublin (même si on n’est pas entré) et on a goûté un cheesecake dans un café.
Ensuite Emy nous a rejoint, on est rentré à Malahide. J’ai fait une promenade dans le parc “The Green” avec Emy, puis on est rentré à la maison. On a mangé, rangé nos affaires, et on s’est préparé pour aller au lit.
Mardi 10 juin
Aujourd’hui, j’ai commencé mon stage.
Le matin, Mme Grill et moi avons accompagné Emy sur son lieu de stage, puis elle m’a emmenée au mien. Une fois arrivée, j’ai fait la connaissance de Claudia, de Deirdre, de six étudiants ainsi que d’une stagiaire venue de Californie. J’ai passé la matinée et l’après-midi à faire du rattrapage de fonte. J’ai également enlevé des vitrines afin de pouvoir ranger les bijoux. En fin de journée, j’ai rejoint Emy et nous sommes rentrées ensemble.
Mercredi 11 juin
La journée a commencé par la suite de mes activités en atelier. J’ai utilisé une mouche pour les bracelets. L’après-midi, j’ai eu l’opportunité de fabriquer des bougies, ce qui était une nouvelle expérience pour moi. J’ai d’abord versé la quantité nécessaire de cire dans les récipients, que j’ai ensuite fait chauffer jusqu’à environ 100 °C. J’ai ensuite ajouté la senteur, puis versé le mélange dans les récipients. L’odeur était si agréable qu’elle a embaumé toute la pièce. Avant cela, j’avais collé les stickers et placé les mèches. J’ai continué cette activité jusqu’à la fin de la journée, avant de rentrer avec Emy.
Jeudi 12 juin
Aujourd’hui, j’ai rebouché un trou sur un bracelet en le complétant avec un fil d’argent. Avant la pause, j’ai également découpé un rectangle dans de la cire. Comme il pleuvait, j’ai mangé à l’intérieur avec les étudiants, ce qui m’a permis de discuter avec eux en anglais. L’après-midi, j’ai corrigé les prix des bijoux en boutique, car certains ne correspondaient pas à ceux affichés sur le site internet. En fin de journée, je suis rentrée avec Emy.
Vendredi 13 juin
Ce matin, j’ai commencé la journée en nettoyant des bijoux. Une bague en forme de limace m’a particulièrement fait rire. Pour ma pause de midi, je suis allée manger au St Stephen’s Green Park, où une mouette très insistante essayait de me prendre mon repas. Ensuite, je suis allée me chercher un dessert bien gourmand chez AOKBerries.
De retour à la boutique, j’ai repris la cire que je préparais pour une cliente : une boucle d’oreille de forme ovale. J’ai ensuite terminé la journée en limant les côtés d’un pendentif fraîchement revenu de la fonte.
En fin de journée, j’ai retrouvé mon père et ma sœur, venus me rendre visite en Irlande. Nous nous sommes baladés dans les rues, puis nous avons bu un verre dans un pub-restaurant où nous avons également dîné. Après ce bon moment ensemble, nous sommes rentrés.
Samedi 14 juin
Ce matin, j’ai rejoint mon père et ma sœur dans un Starbucks. Ensuite, nous avons pris le DART pour aller à Dublin. Nous avons visité l’extérieur du Trinity College et fait un tour dans la boutique. Pour la fête des Pères, j’ai réservé et payé la visite de la bibliothèque, prévue à 18h30. Le midi, nous avons déjeuné au Café en Seine, c’était vraiment délicieux. L’après-midi, nous nous sommes baladés dans Dublin, puis nous avons fait la visite de la bibliothèque, qui était magnifique. Le soir, nous sommes rentrés à Malahide et avons dîné au Sienna’s. Le repas était bon, mais il y avait beaucoup de monde et de bruit. Après le dîner, ils sont retournés à leur hôtel, et moi je suis rentrée à la maison.
Dimanche 15 juin
Aujourd’hui, ma famille m’a rejointe chez Géraldine. Nous avons pris un moment pour discuter tous ensemble, puis nous sommes allés à Dublin pour déjeuner chez Max. Ensuite, nous avons pris un donut chez Rolling Donuts avant de nous promener dans St Stephen’s Green Park. J’y ai vu un cygne, des mouettes, un pélican et deux écureuils. Après une pause café, je les ai accompagnés au bus qui les ramenait à l’aéroport. De mon côté, je suis rentrée à Malahide. Avec Emy, nous avons réservé une visite au musée de l’immigration, puis nous avons terminé la journée avec une pizza au bord de la mer avant de rentrer.
