Arthur's 2nd week in Krakow
Monday I've started my Day around 2:30 pm, with the help of Wiktor, I've finished my setting by adding the central moissanite of the cross pendant, then I've emerised it and polished it to get a clean and shiny finish on the jewel. After that, I had some time left so I had to melt a bag of clasps one by one to remove the steel spring in them so we could recycle the materials. Tuesday I was supposed work on some melting and visit a museum with Wiktor today but sadly he had an emergency and he needed to go in his hometown for a bit. So instead I went to visit the Wawel castle which was really stunning and has a really unique architecture. Then I sat on a bench for about an hour so I could make an observation drawing of the castle since I hadn't practice it for quite a long time. Wednesday Today I went to Mikolaj's studio (@madneeco). As he's specialized in wax working, he taught me how to create a signet ring by sculpting wax with sawblades and files, it took me quite a lot of time so we didn't do more tasks. Thursday I went back to Mikolaj's place to finish my signet ring, he taught me how to sculpt wax with heated tools and how to create a stone-like texture with a wax knife and small gravers. After that, he showed me how to do wax modelling and carving. Friday I had a free day so I went in town to see the Easter market in front of the St Mary Basillica which was really interesting to see. After that, I went to the nice art school of Kraków were I had the opportunity to see an l'exhibition about Applied arts, a lot of works from the students (mostly paintings and sculptures) and I was even able to talk with some teachers about the school which was really exciting and enriching. Saturday (Last day in Poland) I had to leave my accommodation at 10:00 am so I went to the studio at this time, Magdalena was quite busy so I just took some pictures of the place for my report and read some books. We filled up all the paperwork and said heartwarming goodbyes to each other. I had 2 unforgettable weeks which i'm really grateful for. This was one of the most enriching experience I've ever had. |
